Prevent the automatic reinstall of IE 11
Microsoft has released the Internet Explorer 10 Installation Blocker Toolkit. This tool will prevent the automatic installation of Internet Explorer 10. The toolkit can be downloaded here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40722
- Download and Run IE11_BlockerToolkit.EXE. Specify a location for the files.
- Open a command prompt with administrative privileges. Right click on Command Prompt in Accessories and select Run As Administrator. Change to the directory that contains the toolkit.
- Type IE11_Blocker.cmd /b at the command prompt. A confirmation will display indicating whether or not the command completed successfully.
The block can be disabled by entering IE11_Blocker.cmd /u at a command prompt.
A PC can still be manually updated to IE 10 even with the block enabled.
